Profile: Acorn Engineering is a manufacturer of automated special purpose machines. We design and manufacture equipment which vary from simple hand operated jigs to complex fully automated assembly machines. Our products include potentiometer production and test equipment, riveted terminal machine, capacitor manufacture equipment, printed circuit board repair, test & handling, rear view mirror production, packaging equipment, cable tie production, manufacture of swaged copper fittings, and gas meter sensor assembly. Our 3D solid modeling package is used in the design, and this allows the finished product to be displayed before manufacture commences. We design all our machines in-house with the aid of pro/ENGINEER and AutoCAD. We offer a variety of motors and associated controls such as AC, DC, stepper & servo, the latter where high speed or positional accuracy is required. Control for the equipment can be dedicated electrical/electronic systems, PLC (programmable logic controller), or PC controls. Our Dross-Muncher is to cover a need in the electronics industry, whereby a waste product of the wave soldering process can be converted back to usable solder.
