Profile: Agie Charmilles, LLC is a manufacturer of precision equipment. Our products include electrical discharge machining (EDM) systems, and high speed milling machines and machining centres. Our electrical discharge machining is a non-contact machining method that removes metal using electrical sparks generated at regular intervals to create a succession of craters in a workpiece. The materials that conduct electricity (metals, alloys, carbides, graphite) are suitable. The electrical discharge creates carefully targeted, highly precise recesses in metal regulated by highly developed electronic and mechanical systems. The size of the crater depends on the controlled energy turned out by the spark generator. The range of the sparks varies from a few microns to 1 mm, and material removal rates range from 1 to several thousand cubic millimeters per minute. Our high speed milling is used to machine complex three-dimensional surfaces. The high power & torque spindles are a must for cutting speed. The HSM centers are 10 times faster than conventional milling machines, from which greater accuracy and a better surface finish are also achieved. The high speed milling in particular is suitable when it comes to the removal of large volumes of material, or the machining of difficult to cut materials.
