Profile: American Delinting designs & manufactures sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid delinting equipment for cottonseed. Our equipment allows the delinted seed to be separated from trash & foreign particles and for the removal of the immature or cracked seeds that will not germinate. HCL delinting is completed in much the same way as sulfuric acid delinting. The difference is in the acid application. In preparation for the introduction of acid, fuzzy seed is dried and warmed in the dryer then fed into the delinting drum. The drum is sealed as dry HCL gas is injected under pressure. When the reaction is complete, the acidized seed is transferred to a series of buffing drums where the lint is scrubbed from the seed.
