Profile: Applied Energy, LLC specializes in power problems effecting equipment. Our products include phaseback drive voltage stabilizer and harmonic silencer. Our harmonic silencer is a filter for WYE power systems. It is self protected and runs in parallel with other loads allowing installation without shutting down running equipment. The silencers design includes a continuous duty positive temperature coefficient system that is self regulating. Any facility powered from a WYE power transformer will benefit from multiple units as necessary to lower harmonics to a level enabling trouble free operation. Typically only one Silencer will be needed to protect all loads on an entire power circuit from the effects of line harmonics. Our variable frequency drives cause harmonics back onto the line and cause facility wide control problems when the facility is powered from a WYE connected power transformer. They generate harmonics which develop additional heat in the motor windings. An increase of only 20° may shorten the motor life between 50 and 75%. The generated harmonics also cause shaft currents which damage the motor bearings. It also degrade the windings of motors due to voltage spikes created by the switch mode power supplies and square wave power being supplied to the motor.This harmonic reduction, improved power factor and voltage stabilization can be accomplished by placing a Phaseback drive voltage stabilizer in between the drive and motor. Adding a silencer on the line side of the drive the harmonics can be reduced by 50% or more.
