Description:
The apron conveyors are the best alternative to rubber belt conveyors for a hot, lumpy and abrasive product. The apron conveyors are made of mild steel and welded aprons are bolted to a side bar link chain at a short pitch and in an overlapping profile to achieve a continuous conveying surface. The apron and chain combination is supported on outboard rollers at a close spacing enabling a low movement resistance and a guided path while travelling on an inclined profile. Terminal sprockets have profile-machined teeth and heat-treated contact zone for economical life. With usage, the operating speed is limited. Higher capacities are achieved using higher sidewalls welded to the aprons in conjunction with partition plates. These equipment are often used as cooling or feeding machines in place of belt conveyors as the capital cost is relatively higher than other types of conveyors.
