Calcined brown fused alumina is produced by calcining BFA at 1300 degrees. This removes residual sulfur and carbon & improves toughness thereby making it ideal for vitrified abrasives usage. Pink fused alumina is produced by doping chromium into alumina to introduce toughness. These abrasives are mainly used for tool room applications.
