Electromagnetic Clutch/Brake
Maxitorq brand open type clutch-brake combination, Type C&B, Series `W' comprises an electromagnetic clutch and brake, can be used for continuous startstop function in any drive transmission arrangement of any machine or mechanism. Generally, the drive is from an electric motor or such other device. The unit comes with a factory-fitted clutch body and rotor assembly, which can be mounted on the input shaft and a splined armature hub and bush assembly is mounted on the output shaft. The brake is mounted on any stationary flat surface after the armature hub assembly. The basic operation is, when a DC voltage is applied to the clutch the input and output shafts get coupled and the input side's drive is transmitted to the output. When the supply to the clutch is switched off and toggled to the brake the output shaft is held immediately in its position, while the input shaft gets decoupled and keeps rotating. This operation can be performed repetitively for a high frequency of operations up to 50-60 cycles per minute. The salient features are involute spline type armature hub design for uniform operation, mechanically interlocked, stable operation, high frequency operations, durable and rugged in performance, long life and uniform release time. These are available in different sizes and capacities.
