Electromagnetic Impactors drive a powerful shock wave radially outward in all directions i.e., a wave that carries fractured minerals of all types, partly shock melted from extreme heat. It is a new electromagnetic method suggested for measuring hardness of dielectric materials. The hardness characteristics are derived from the width of leading edge of the electromagnetic response to a shock acting on the material. The impactor accelerates into the sample and makes a dent or even penetrates it. An electromagnetic impactor with a metallic tip is set to deliver an impact at 3.1 ± 0.1 m/sec for determining injuries in human body.
