Description: Electro-Magnetically Released Spring Applied Failsafe Caliper Brakes are widely used in application where extremely high braking torques are required and high braking loads and high temperatures encountered, affording a constant rate of declaration giving a smooth stop. The operating coil is DC and the brake is extremely silent in operation. These brakes are available in two models EAF and EAF-DW. The EAF-DW is the advanced version of EAF that gives increased torque rating and has a substantially higher wear capacity. The EAF-DW with double winding is designed to give 2x voltage forcing when switch on, with the windings in parallel having twice nominal voltage applied to them. After a time delay, by switching the windings in series the voltage of each winding is reduced to half; enabling the use of stronger springs there-by having the advantage of significantly faster application of braking force at de-energisation of the brake coil.
