Description: NON-CONTACT TYPE EleFant is a non-contact type float measurement detector for capacitive flow measurement for de-oiled toaster application. In Soya application it is necessary to convert the angular movement of the float shaft to 4 to 20 mA output. This is used as an input to a 'variable frequency drive' that in turn is used to control the speed of a motor coupled to the feeding mechanism. The application requirement is such that a very rugged and a reliable instrument is necessary to withstand the plant environment and the continuous jerks incurred by the float. The probe mounting bracket has provision for easy alignment with the projecting float shaft. A flexible coupling along with a torque absorbing spring mechanism allows the handling of jerks inherent in the shaft movement. The shaft projecting out of the DT probe utilises pre-lubricated sealed bearings for smooth rotation and for withstanding lateral loads. The shaft drives a variable capacitor housed in the probe enclosure. The angular movement of the shaft is converted to a capacitance change, which is measured and converted to a DC variation by the electronic insert mounted in the probe head. Since the sensing does not involve any contacts and brushes as are needed in potentiometers, the probe has a long trouble- free operation with minimum wear and tear. The current signal is transmitted to the evaluation unit that has facility to calibrate the angular rotation in terms of o to 100% of the range of rotation. A 4 to 20 mA analogue output corresponding to the desired rotation angle is available for connecting to the VFD controller. This non-contact type float measurement detector is offered by Sapcon Instruments.
