Description: Electro conductive fluoropolymer coating has been introduced for the first time in India. Highlights include service temperature up to 500°F (260°C); highest chemical resistance; and uniform removal of static electricity. DuPont Japan has developed a special white colour electro conductive encapsulated perfluoro alkyl-powder especially for food processing, pharma manufacturing processes, and chemical tanks for flammable organic solvents. Chemical and pharma industry manufacturing process involves use of ingredients and unit operations, which may result in electric charge generation. Lots of these activities are carried in PFA fluoropolymer coated equipments such as cartridges, vessels, reactors and agitators. Since polymer coating is an electrical insulator, this charge accumulates on the surface of equipment and this may lead to failure of coating or ignite combustible mixture in the equipment. There are conventional methods like titanium plunge, dip pipe/feed pipe or reduced speed of operation that are used, but they are not effective and do not guarantee complete charge removal. Dupont, Japan has developed a special material, which has got Japanese food sanitation law approval. This material has got better electrical conductance with no compromise on chemical resistance.
