Profile: GDJ, Inc. specializes in the manufacturing of laboratory equipment. Our products include brake dynamometer, powertek chassis dynamometer, chassis suspension fixture, crash tester, engine test stands and wind tunnels. The brake dynamometer system is used to evaluate the thermodynamic characteristics of brake pad materials and compounds. The lab consists of an electric motor used to spin a mounted brake rotor at variable rpms. A brake master cylinder is used to supply a hydraulic pressure to the brake caliper, and load the brake pad to the spinning rotor. Efficiency is measured by comparing brake temperatures to the amount of brake torque being supplied. The laboratory experiment includes an electric variable speed motor to drive the brake rotor, a complete automotive style brake system, temperature and torque sensors to measure brake pad performance. Labview software is used to display & store the data.
