Grooved Drums are a metallic drum shell that has grooves, which enhance its acoustical properties to provide a warmer and less harsh sound. The grooving can be a continuous spiral groove formed in the outside surface of the drum shell. The grooves can be formed with selected depths, widths, contours and frequencies in order to achieve the desired fundamental pitch, resonance and overtone suppression.
