Hard surface cleaners comprise of formulations used in cleaning glass, metals, floor tiles and countertops. Industrial hard-surface cleaners contain strong caustic, whereas milder alkalies are used in fabric care, warewashing and home use products. It utilizes the slower evaporating solvents and the resultant longer residence time that allows the cleaner to penetrate the soils. Light duty hard surface cleaners are used to remove light loads of dirt and oil films on surfaces that are already fairly clean. Medium duty hard surface cleaners are used to handle heavy deposits of grease or dirt. Hard duty hard surface cleaners include abrasives.
