Harmonic Balancer Installers is used to remove the balancer without damage to the balancer itself, the crankshaft or the position sensor. It removes the harmonic balancer on late model 3300 and 3800 V6 GMs requires pulling hardware much different than conventional pullers. The 45300 is equipped with the special bolts and adapters to pull the harmonic balancer cleanly without damage to the crank sensor. The tool comprises an elongated threaded shaft which includes a removable threaded adapter for attaching the shaft to the end of the crankshaft by means of an axial threaded hole in the crankshaft end. A bolt connects the threaded adapter to the shaft, and a thrust bearing slidably mounted upon the shaft is axially forced into engagement with the balancer by a shaft mounted nut whereby rotation of the nut forces the thrust bearing against the balancer pushing the balancer upon the crankshaft. The use of adapters having various sizes and thread specifications permits the tool to be employed with a wide variety of crankshaft sizes and models.
