Profile: Hitachi Cable America, Inc. offers networking products, optical components, wires & cables, copper products and semiconductor materials. Focusing on the Layer 2 carrier-ethernet field, we have developed a wide variety of ethernet switches, media converters and WDM transponders with innovative technologies. Our Apresia18K/8K/6K series is designed to increase the scalability and reliability of service providers' metro-core/edge ethernet network. We have implemented ethernet technologies such as EoE and MMRP to meet carrier-class availability requirements. The Apresia13K/4K/3K/2K models are adopted by enterprise customers for a secure LAN environment. Fiber optic transceivers perform the conversion between optical and electrical signals, incorporated in routers & general-purpose computers. The optical transceivers, intended for high-end markets, achieve transmission speeds of 10 Gbps. We have developed fiber optical devices for WDM networks, and optical transceivers for IP-based networks, which are excellent partner for telecommunication equipment manufacturers. We have also developed a thermal type guided wave optic multi / de-multiplexers, eliminating the need to control temperature during operation, and contributing to the diffusion of metro-specific networks. Guided wave variable optical attenuators, which control the fluctuation of optical signals, have also been developed.
