It resists the effects of hard water scaling. It uses a unique vortex technology for silent operation. Cold water enters the mixing valve and forms an inner vortex that moves from the inside out, while incoming steam forms an opposing outer vortex that moves from the outside in. The mixing occurs as the two vortices collides, thereby thoroughly mixing and heating the water to the desired temperature. The vortex design reduces noise and also the cavitations that can cause premature wear and, mineral/scale build-up by its unique sourcing effect. Operators are protected from being scalded by an innovative thermal actuator in the downstream leg of the mixer that is designed to automatically shut off the flow of steam or hot water at 15?F over the set temperature and will not open until the over-temperature condition is remedied.
