Hydro indexing valves are an alternative to individual solenoid valves. When water enters the valve, the pressure forces the disc down sealing all of the outlets. As the water is shut off, the valve drains and the spring inside the stem forces the stem and disc assembly upwards. The cam on top of the valve then rotates the stem and disc assembly to the next zone.
