High-current electron beam accelerators are used in diverse industries to enhance the physical and chemical properties of materials and to reduce undesirable contaminants, such as pathogens or toxic by-products. With the advent of very high-current E-beam accelerators, conversion of electron beam power to X-rays is now a commercially viable alternative to the industrial use of gamma rays. The Rhodotron® is a recirculating accelerator where electrons gain energy by crossing a co-axial shaped accelerating cavity several times. This original design makes it possible to operate the machine in continuous mode for maximum efficiency and throughput. Rhodotron® is unique amongst E-beam accelerators by combining high-power and high energy. The Rhodotron® can provide one or several beam outputs from 2 to 10 MeV, and with power going from 35 kW to 700 kW.
