Profile: ITT Communications Systems specializes in providing wireless networking systems for tactical military and government systems. We provide radio systems to the FAA for air traffic control, complete border security systems and reference class GPS receivers. We offer radio frequency integrated circuits (RFIC) and customized system-on-chip (SOC) products. Our PCMCIA wireless card is networking product for the battlefield. It provides scalable, mobile ad hoc networking for warfighters. By simply inserting the wireless modem card into a host computer, up to 6 Mbps of data is available for streaming audio, video, and position location. Sensor radio forms an ad hoc self-forming and self-healing network. This radio and associated waveform employ a series of ad hoc, self-healing protocols at the physical, link and network layers. The network automatically forms based on the propagation environment, connectivity, ad hoc routing and robust waveform. The self-forming and self-healing features allow the deployed nodes to dynamically form and maintain the network, manage resources and accomplish mission objectives. The node host communicates with the radio by using packets. The radio has an integrated sleep/wake-up power management feature that allows the sleep/wake cycle of the radio to be controlled by the external host to meet the system's operational needs.
