Line stopping service is also known as hydra-stopping. This is a way to stop flow within a pipe. This is similar to line tapping, with the addition of flow stopping. Once the hole is cut in the line, the cutter is retracted, removed and replaced with an expansion-type stopping device utilizing a valve, fitting and sealed machine. The stopping device is then inserted through the same hole into the pipe and expanded. The flow can be stopped by cutting a hole in the pipe and inserting a sealing device within the pipe. The length of the pipe is isolated when two hydra-stops are done in conjunction. This method can be performed on all types of piping materials for a variety of process and plant piping and materials such as steam, gas, water, oil, alcohol, waste line and coke gas.
