Lt Shunt Capacitors

Description: LT shunt capacitors are available in three designs: standard MPP (metallised polypropylene) dry type, MPP oil and MPP dry and oil in modular con-struction, enabling easy and quick reparability at site. Heavy-duty double dielectric capacitors are used in order to build the correct degree protection. A capacitor needs to be given a higher over current withstand capacity and also higher voltage of surge voltage withstand. This dual consideration has been taken into accounts to evolve a different construction of capacitors. The basic cell winding of this MPP design remains the same as that for a conventional design. This design of the capacitor has seen evolved keeping in mind the basic simplicity of construction of the primary MPP cell and its superiority in the capital and operating costs. The new design retains all these features and is still capable of withstanding, over current as also the surge voltage. These capacitors are known as double dielectric type capacitors. Regarding advantages of this construction a higher capability is generated and there is no introduction of what may be regarded as weak spots in the capacitors system. Over current is taken care of and therefore performance remains uniform as that for the proven design of the conventional type. It is therefore not necessary to evaluate performance for the new design in any radical manner.
