Profile: Phoenix Scientific, Inc. specializes in providing phase-measurement laser radar for pavement testing. Pavement profile scanner (PPS) is a polygon scanner with 6 sides is used to point the ladar measurement beam at points along a straight line on the pavement, thereby scanning a line and generating the profile along the line 6 times per revolution of the polygon. Operating at 10,000 RPM the system generates 1,000 scans per second. With the scanner mounted 7 feet above the pavement, the ±45° field of view produces a profile 14 feet long (twice the height).
