Power Turn conveyors improve the performance of the unit with very low sound levels, high speed capability, and improved maintainability. The belt on a power turn conveyor is positively driven by a shaft-mounted sprocket engaging a precision sidebow chain. The chain is attached directly to the outside edge of the belt. This positive drive arrangement is unaffected by changes in loading, tension, temperature or humidity. The idea of distributing power in multiple locations on a belt conveyor has been around for a long time. By splitting the power into two locations, the maximum belt tension is reduced by almost 40 percent while the total power requirement remains virtually the same. A much smaller belt can be used and smaller individual power units can be used.
