They are used for the hoisting of mine cages or skips, guiding of conveyances through shafts, raising of skips on incline haulages, carrying of minerals, materials or men on aerial ropeways, suspension of bridges, anchoring of radio and television masts, and for a variety of specialized civil engineering and industrial purposes. Standard long loop cappel sizes are for ropes from 26 mm to 57 mm: however, cappels for ropes of greater diameter can be supplied. Cappel wedges can also be supplied with grooves to take ropes of smaller diameter.
