There are basically five major components in a pre-engineered building such as main frame or vertical columns& rafters, secondary framing, purlins, eave struts & girts, exterior cladding- sheeting and insulation, wind bracing, portal bracing or cross rod bracing and mezzanine floor. Exterior cladding provides a weather tight envelope and transfer structural loads i.e. wind & live loads to the supporting secondary framing and provides lateral bracing to the roofs purlins & wall girts. Roof & wall cross bracing provides longitudinal stability to the building and transfer of the wind loads acting on the building end walls to the foundation. Pre-engineered steel buildings can be fitted with different structural accessories including mezzanine floors, canopies, fascias & interior partitions and the building is made water proof by use of special mastic beads, filler strips and trims. This is very versatile buildings systems and can be finished internally to serve any functions and accessorized externally to achieve attractive and unique designing styles.
