Profile: Safe Water Systems is a supplier of a line of solar water disinfection products. Combining two time-tested processes, water pasteurization and passive solar water heating technology, solar water pasteurizers disinfect biologically contaminated water without fuel, electricity, chemicals or a pressurized water source. Our products are SunRay-1000 solar water pasteurizer & SunRay-30 solar water pasteurizer, the first disinfects 1,000 liters/264 gallons or more per sunny day and the other disinfects up to 30 liters/7.5 gallons per sunny day. The SunRay-30 model, our batch solar water pasteurizer, disinfects water by combining heat pasteurization with UV radiation. The water is typically heated for 1.5 to 2 hours. Once the temperature reaches 62ºC (143ºF), the thermal indicator wax melts, confirming that pasteurization has occurred. The SunRay-1000 model is our flow-through solar water pasteurizer. Since the water spends only a short time in the system, the thermal control valve is designed to open at a higher temperature of 75ºC (175ºF). At this point the disinfected water is released from the solar collector.
