Our Convert-A-Card from security and fire electronics is designed to permit the customers to continue using their original cards and readers when part of the system has been changed. It does this by converting the format of the original cards to the format of the system. The unit can also be used for selected (or all) readers in the system, to permit entry to users from another system. The unit is transparent to the host system. Installation time is negligible, and there is no system reprogramming or modification necessary. Our SAFE DCU-4 is a single-gang-size CPU-based board that emulates the output of a wiegand card reader. This device can be used as a replacement for a wiegand card reader in low to medium security areas, or as an additional security measure in high security areas. The output format is 32-bit, 26-bit or custom programmable. The SAFE DCU-4 fits in a single-gang box and has two LED outputs. It also has a tone beep for data entry. When the digits are pressed, the device assembles them into a simulated wiegand card format and sends it to the RIM or card reader interface. It is powered from 12VDC and draws about 35 ma of current.
