Shaft encoders are precision measuring instruments meant for transducing angle, distance and speed. PG coders are manufactured with the precision technology. Reliable opto-electronic system with high precision mechanical components and thorough testing guarantees a long lasting product. Incremental encoders register shaft position. Output is available in form of pulses incremented step by step in a counter or a processor. Direction can be determined with the help of two trains of pulses in quadrature. One index position pulse per rotation is available. These encoders are available in a very wide range of resolutions, voltages and executions. Shaft encoders could be coupled to the drive via precision couplings while Hollowshaft encoders do not need couplings and can be mounted directly to the shaft. Dual Stream encoders is yet another addition to meet the needs of two totally independent sources of pulses from one encoder. Incremental encoders are compliant to International standards. Unlike incremental encoders, absolute encoders give position output in standard binary grey or BCD format. Correct shaft position is always available at the output in Bit format even on failure and resumption of power supply. For position transmission of higher resolution bits, synchronous serial interface (SSI) is available at the output of the encoders. The SSI can be translated into standard or binary or with grey code by using SPG-3 card.
