Profile: South Bay Technology, Inc. is a provider of material processing solutions. We offer cutting and sectioning, lapping & polishing, damage free slicing & polishing, disc cuttings, sample mounting & metallographic equipment. We also offer electron microscopy, crystal oriented tools, and microelectronic processing. Our shim controlled lapping and polishing fixtures are designed to lap & polish samples to the same thickness over & over again, using shims to control the final thickness. This can be done by using lapping & polishing machine such as models 900. Our crystal oriented tools can be oriented on an X-ray track, transferred to a cutting instrument, and subsequently transferred to a lapping & polishing system, all while maintaining crystal orientation. Our goniometer is used to hold crystals in the process of determining crystallographic orientation using Laue back reflection and optical orientation techniques. The goniometer combines rugged stainless steel construction with easy adjustment with the appropriate adapter, and it can be used with SBT slicing machines.
