Starter Solenoids supply the high current needed to run the starter motor and also provides the force needed to engage the starter. It contains a set of windings that, cause movement of the solenoid's plunger, which then engages the starter. It receives a large electrical current from the car battery and a small electrical current from the ignition switch. It also closes high-current contacts for the starter motor and it starts to run.
