Strain gaging may be combined with nondestructive testing to provide reliability assessment of steel bridges where fatigue is a concern. Strain gage data may be employed to identify bridges and structural components most susceptible to fatigue cracking. Strain gage data may be incorporated into fracture mechanics/NDT analyses to insure that effective reliability assurance is provided and to assist in scheduling follow on nondestructive tests.
