A thermal power plant comprises all of the equipment and systems required to produce electricity by using a steam generating boiler fired with fossil fuels or biofuels to drive an electrical generator. Some prefer to use the term energy center because such facilities convert forms of energy, like nuclear energy, gravitational potential energy or heat energy into electrical energy. In a thermal power plant, steam is produced and used to spin a turbine that operates a generator. In a conventional thermal power plant, which uses coal, oil, or natural gas as fuel to boil water to produce the steam. The electricity generated at the plant is sent to consumers through high-voltage power lines.
