Profile: William Lane Ltd. specializes in bespoke castings. We work with a number of large companies that service diverse industrial sectors such as steel (making & rolling), petrochemical, power generation and marine. We produce complex castings with intricate cores such as impellers (single and double suction) and diffusers, as well as straightforward items like bushes, flanged bushes, bearings & half bearings. Silica sand mixed with sodium silicate is used to make the moulds for castings and hardened off with carbon dioxide. The surface of the mould is treated to prevent sand binding to the casting and enhance the surface finish. The running, gating and filtering systems used are designed to minimize the inclusions & porosity.
