All Geared Milling Machine Model UM-2NM-2
The UM-2VM-2, an all geared milling machine is a product from Jasmer Machine Tools. Specifications inculde: The table size measures 1300 x 2800 mm, the T-slots measure 3 x 14 and the distance between T-slots is 60 mm. The milling machine has the longitudinal traverse of 660 mm, cross traverse of 200 mm and the vertical traverse of 400 mm. The spindle nose meets ISO-40 specification. The speed of the spindle is 8 (40-1150 RPM) and the table feed (cross and longitudinal) is 8 (15-150). The rapid-traverse measures 1150 mm. Only the UM models have the arbour dia option and measures 1 inch. The draw bolt dia for arbour measures about 16 mm and the vertical heads swing to 90° on either side (only in vertical models). The spindle motor has the capacity of 2 HP 1400 RPM, the feed motor of 2 HP 925 RPM and the cool pump has the capcity of 0.1 HP 2800 RPM. The construction features include the following: the base made of heavy rigid casting, also serves as a coolant tank and provides a suitable platform for robust operation. The column is rigidly built and traces are hand-scraped and lapped/ground. The heavy knee is made as a box and rests on a vertical column equipped with a thrust bearing and protected from dirt and chips by telescopic covers. The moveable parts inside are protected from foreign matter by a coolant, the knee being closed at the upper end. All the hand wheels are relatable and the automatic feeds in all three directions are limited by means of adjustable feed trip dogs. The work table is of a very sturdy construction and the dovetail is provided with an adjustable gib. The table has 3 T-slots and is provided with coolant channels. In the construction of the universal milling machine, special importance is attached to the sturdy construction of the base of the table. A graduated scale is placed in order to obtain an exact angle adjustment up to 45° at either side. The power is driven through an electric motor flange mounted at the rear of the machine.
