Description: Gland Packings For Vacuum Applications are produced. Most process engineers have a nightmarish experience of leaking stuffing boxes in vacuum pumps, reactors, agitators, autoclaves, vacuum dryers & vacuum filters. Some of the problems encountered include: loss of expensive chemicals; excessive man-hours lost to continuously adjust leaking stuffing boxes; frequent plant down times due to premature packing failures and frequent bearing failures. Continuous escape of dangerous chemicals and fumes through stuffing box can result in plant shutdown by the pollution control board. In unitoperations carried under vacuum air ingestion through stuffing box results in loss of vacuum thus increasing batch time, reducing plant productivity and poor product quality. We have developed patented reinforced yarn packings and in-situ Hiteklon mould for sealing stuffing boxes in vacuum applications. Conventional pure imported PTFE, pure graphite, PTFE/graphite yarns have the inherent property characteristic known as compression set, i.e., the packing rings remain in the same consolidated compressed form without any recuperation. Hence it requires periodic tightening of the gland follower, to effectively seal. Due to the continuous and constant gland pressure the packing rings solidify & harden resulting in premature packing failure. Further, the packing grabs the shaft resulting in scoring of the sleeve. Our in-situ mould fills up the deformities and scorings in the shafts & provides an even surface for gland packing. In our reinforced yarn packing, the reinforced synthetic fiber imparts the property of reincuperation, thereby exerting a back pressure on the follower this enables it to work effectively with minimum load. The packing does not grab the shaft and does not solidify. The packing ring does not harden on service.
