Optical Displacement Sensors
Optical Displacement Sensors are used for contactless precision measurement of distance or thickness at the range of 100-300 mm. A collimated laser beam forms a spot on the object, a CCD camera records the image and makes it possible to determine the distance from the object, after numerous calculations for each out put value. The ODS select measuring system manufactured by Danish Sensor Engineering-Denmark, is a compact unit. The sensor is easy to install, since a light emitting diode indicates whether the object is at the center or outside the measuring range. Moreover, the laser light enables to view the object more clearly. The sensor can also be connected to a computer programmer, through which the distance data from the ODS can be displayed and saved to files. It is used for applications such as for measuring distance, thickness, profile, feedback, quality control & statistics in production lines and for level control. The ODS blackline sensors are calibrated for measuring thickness when paired. The 02DS model is used for measuring the thickness of wood products, steel slabs, steel plates, insulation boards, extruded foams, and foodstuffs.
