Ozone Treatment Of Coloured Wash Water
Description: Ozone treatment of coloured wash water has been developed as a process to discolour and detoxify effluents using ozone. Ozone should be applied to remove the colour, odour and COD/ BOD. Ozone can be used in two stages for more effective result: to remove colour from wash water the ozone dosing required is from 50 to 150 ppm depending on the toxic concentration and pH should be optimised for better results. The ozonated water has to be passed through a clarifier to separate the suspended solids. A trace quantity of alum and polyelectrolyte is also added for more effective removal of the existing suspended solids and abatement of the turbidity. The solid waste, if any, which comes out from the settling tank is incinerated.
