Ozone Treatment Of Dyeing Wash Waters
Description: Ozone Treatment of Dyeing Wash Waters involves the process of detoxifying dyeing wash waters using ozone. Ozone should be applied for the removal of color, odour, COD/BOD keeping the wash water separately. Ozone can be used in two stages for more effective abatement in COD/BOD and color. The ozone dosage for removing color from wash water ranges from 50 to 150 PPM, depending on the various color dyes used. The ozonated water has to be passed through a settling tank to separate the suspended solids. A trace quantity of alum and polyelectrolyte is also added for more effective removal of the existing suspended solids and reducing the turbidity. The solid waste (mainly cotton fibre particles), which comes out from the settling tank, is destroyed. The turbidity will thereby reduce from over 20 to less than 4 NTU. There is no hazardous chemical sludge generated and the COD level after ozone treatment is much less when compared with chemical treatment.
