Wire testing is performed in the pre-wire phase of a new construction project and then again before the network devices are attached. Wire-map test looks at each individual wire in the cable and whether or not it maps to the same pin at each end of the cable. This test is used to identify connector and pinning errors on a cable segment. Bulk wiring testers use computer controlled, state-of-the-art switching architecture to evaluate and test reels of bundled cable lengths up to 30,000 feet in length for continuity, dielectric strength, insulation resistance and capacitance with stimulus up to 20 kV. Spring testing fixtures normally include compression plates, tension devices, or special tooling designed for a specific type of spring. These fixtures can have a significant effect on the quality of the results. The fixtures may be a significant contributor to frame deflection. This is especially true for extension springs.
