Landfill gas monitors are used in landfills to monitor landfill gas migration control systems, gas extraction systems, flares, migration probes, LEL levels, and sub-surface fires. Landfill gas monitors are used for taking readings of methane, oxygen, carbon dioxide and pressure. Landfill gas monitors are typically placed in three types of locations at or near landfills; these are subsurface, surface, or enclosed space. The three types of monitoring locations address different landfill gas concerns and can be used either alone or together in a sampling program. Subsurface systems measure concentrations of contaminants in the soil gas at locations beneath the soil-air interface. Surface systems measure concentrations of gas within a couple of inches above the soil-air interface. Enclosed space systems monitor gases in indoor air or confined areas overlying or adjacent to landfills, such as buildings, subsurface vaults, utilities, or any other spaces where the potential for gas buildup is of concern. There are two types of landfill gas motors such as single reading monitors and continuous gas monitors. Single reading monitors give point readings for landfill gas composition. Continuous gas monitors are remain in boreholes and give continuous readings over time for landfill gas composition and production.

Landing gears are legs and wheels that are used in aircraft for landing and taking off. The assembly has wheels and shock absorber apparatus. Landing gear struts act as shock absorbers, reducing impact and providing softer landings. During flight, the landing gears are retracted into the body of the aircraft to reduce drag and improve fuel efficiency. Aircraft extend their landing gear as they approach a landing strip. Once the aircraft has landed, they are used to taxi off the runway and steer the aircraft into its designated parking slot.
