Plug box heat exchangers are suitable for a wide range of applications and services, for cooling and condensing of hydrocarbons and gases at several process design conditions in small, medium and large plants. The distributor (header) of this model is a completely welded box with holes in front of each finned tube to allow tube expansion, cleaning and inspection. The design effectively meets conflicting needs such as low cost and high versatility.
The air circulation fans are typically plug fans, which plug into the dryer enclosure. The fan wheel of the plug fan is not in a fan scroll, but rather is an open wheel, which pressurizes the plenum or chamber in which it is mounted. The exhaust fans can also be plug fans, but are more often, separate scroll fans. Plug fans are centrifugal flow fans that are built without housing.
