Deep well pump is a centrifugal pump resting on a solid foundation with a shaft extending all the way down the well. The multistage impellers are arranged near the bottom of the shaft. The well water level must be over the lowest pump bowl. These are placed in wells and are used for lifting water form depths of about 25 feet below the ground surface. These can be both positive displacement and variable displacement. The line shaft pump may be driven either by direct-coupled electric motors or by engines.
