Hydrogen gas plants are used for the generation of hydrogen gas. It employs the well-known and widely accepted steam reforming technology for hydrogen generation. The commonly used refinery feedstocks are naphtha, natural gas and LPG. However, some alternative hydrocarbon feedstocks such as methanol are also considered at a large scale. It basically operates according to pressure swing adsorption (PSA) technology.

Hydrogen Generators electrolytically break down water in to hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen will receive further purification through palladium permeable filters and the oxygen is vented. When used with a down stream water trapping system, such as molecular sieve trap and an indicating trap in series, a hydrogen generator will provide gas chromatography quality hydrogen for both carrier gas and detector fuel use. New models of hydrogen generators produce hydrogen at a purity of 99.9999% and internal purifiers eliminate the need for additional down stream purification. A major safety advantage for hydrogen generators is that at any time, the total volume of gas in the unit is small and the pressure is low. Most units have a pressure relief valve, set for a pressure slightly above the normal operating pressure. Other safety devices within the generator also ensure that pressures cannot exceed the specified maximum and shut down the unit if the pressure suddenly stops.

Hydrogen leak detector is a unique instrument for industrial leak detection and tightness control. This is sensitive and can be used to find leaks as small as 5 x 10-7 mbar x l/s, comparable to leaks 1000 times smaller than detectable with a traditional soupy water or bubble tests. The inherent characteristics of Hydrogen enable fast, precise and safe leak location and qualification. Hydrogen leak detection is done with a safe 5% hydrogen in 95% nitrogen gas mix. Because hydrogen is quickly transported to the leaks and dissipates much faster than other gases it allows for much quicker testing and re-testing than other gases.

Hydrogen Peroxide is a very pale blue liquid, which appears colorless in a dilute solution, slightly more viscous than water. It is a weak acid. It has strong oxidizing properties and is therefore a powerful bleaching agent. Hydrogen peroxide is used for pulp- and paper-bleaching. Hydrogen peroxide is also used in the production of epoxides such as propylene oxide.

Hydrogen purification system removes impurities from the hydrogen generated from onboard or stationary fuel reforming systems. It is also referred as hydrogen separator. A mixture of hydrogen and impurities is applied to a container holding hydride forming material capable of adsorbing hydrogen and impurities. After hydrogen and impurities are adsorbed by the hydride forming material in the container, the temperature and pressure in the container are controlled to enable release of the hydrogen from the material. The released hydrogen is then delivered to a utilization unit.

Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) monitors usually employ electrochemical sensors, as do the sulfur dioxide, chlorine, and fluorine monitors. It is designed for survey work or continuous monitoring. These are ideal for leak testing, ventilation and board emission checking, for backing up a continuous monitoring system or just about anywhere toxic gas is a concern. Each analyzer has an integral sample-draw pump and analog direct-read display. The detection element is an electrochemical voltammetric sensor that delivers highly reliable performance.
