Omni Directional Scanner is a hands-free scanner available with a footprint requiring less than 9 square inches of space. This high-tech 3″ x 3″ scanner operates at 1000 scans per second using 32-bit microprocessor technology. These types of scanners are used most frequently for point of sale applications. The scanners can be used in a presentation mode, where products are held in front of the scanner while the bar code is scanned. It is laser-based, using a multi-faceted, spinning mirror. These scanners are typically connected to a computer via keyboard wedge, USB keyboard emulation, or RS-232 serial interface.
