Backplane assemblies are used to interconnect smaller electronic assemblies and to route power and signals to their proper places in large electronic systems. Each assembly, in turn, may consist of as many as 100 chip components, each of which represent one or more electronic circuits. It consists of a printed circuit board with a variety of connectors mounted on it and connected to its circuits.
