Splicing Tapes are special double sided tapes. Paper making and printing requires splicing one end of roll to the beginning of another, as well as splicing after defective material has been cut out. Such splices should be made quickly and easily, they require an adhesive that rapidly attains maximum strength and retains it throughout subsequent operations. It is manufactured using a water-soluble adhesive, based on alkali-soluble acrylic acid esters, and polyethylene or polypropylene waxes, and alkali-dispersible plasticizer. Tack and heat stability together with water solubility or dispersibility are required for splicing tapes in paper making and printing.
