Some heat transfer oils are mineral oils derived from petroleum. There are different grades of heat transfer oils based on the temperature at which they are to be used. Chemically they are hydrocarbon mixtures.

Thermistor Based Thermometers offer a high degree of accuracy with a limited temperature range, typically from -50 to +180C. Thermistor based thermometers are very resistant to mechanical shock. Thermistor based thermometers are limited in temperature range but capable of very high accuracy.
