Air cyclone is a method used for removing particulates from an air stream, without the use of filters, through vortex separation. Rotational effects and gravity are used to separate mixtures of solids and fluids. A high speed rotating air-flow is established within a cylindrical or conical container called a cyclone. Air flows in a spiral pattern, beginning at the top of the cyclone and ending at the bottom end before exiting the cyclone in a straight stream through the center of the cyclone and out the top. Larger particles in the rotating air stream have too much inertia to follow the tight curve of the air stream and strike the outside wall, falling then to the bottom of the cyclone where they can be removed. In a conical system, as the rotating air-flow moves towards the narrow end of the cyclone, the rotational radius of the air stream is reduced, separating smaller and smaller particles from the air stream. The cyclone geometry, together with airflow rate, defines the cut point of the cyclone. This is the size of particle that will be removed from the air stream with 50% efficiency. Particles larger than the cut point will be removed with a greater efficiency, and smaller particles with a lower efficiency.

Air purifiers are machines used to purify air in home, aero planes and chemical plants. Air has pollutants such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde, and smoke. Ozone and electrostatic air purifier equipped with fan produce less noise and are effective. Ozone is more effective in removing odor. Electrostatic purifiers use electricity to produce positive charge and attract all the negative charged pollutants. Electrostatic precipitation air purifiers produce negative charges and impart them to passing pollutants. The positive plates collectors attract them. However these purifiers are unable to collect allergens because they do not remain air borne for a long time. Once they get settled it is impossible to remove pollutants.

Air sparging system is used to injecting air directly into groundwater. It remediates groundwater by volatilizing contaminants and enhancing biodegradation. As the bubbles rise, the contaminants are removed from the groundwater by physical contact with the air and are carried up into the unsaturated zone. As the contaminants move into the soil, a soil vapor extraction system is usually used to remove vapors. The addition of oxygen to contaminated ground water and soils also enhances biodegradation of contaminants in and above the water table, as it acts as a nutrient for bacteria. There are several enhancements for air sparging.

Air stripping towers are vertical cylindrical air stripping devices. They are often used in ground water remediation at sites where gasoline has contaminated ground water. It removes any volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by spraying the water down over whiffle ball-like fill while air flows upward through the water spray. Air stripping towers are packed with gravel or synthetic material. Contaminated water flows downward and air passes upward. This action induces volatile compounds in solution into the vapor phase. If concentrations in air discharging from the top of the column exceed local air quality standards, it may be burned or filtered. Typical air stripping columns are around 7 m tall and 1 m wide.

Air-cooled reflector is intended to operate at temperatures far cooler than that of conventional reflectors. The unit draws cool air from outside which it then forces into the unit, over the hot lamp. The heated air is the expelled outside the aquarium. This can result in a heat reduction of between 65-75% within the aquarium. This reduction in heat allows delivering more growth light to the tank minus the damaging effects of the associated heat. Polymer Electrolyte is an ion carrier that can be formed into large-area thin films, which lower internal cell resistance even for electrolytes with moderate conductivity. They function as an electron separator electrochemically compatible with highly reactive anodes and cathodes. It is a binder of cathode active material and also serves as a separator. This electrolyte is also used as model materials for the investigation of conduction paths in semi crystalline systems. Operation of the battery at higher temperatures also leads to an improved conductivity of the polymer electrolyte. They are also less reactive with respect to lithium, which is beneficial for the safety of the battery. An amorphous solar cell is a type of solar cell that is relatively cheap to produce and widely available. They are named because of their composition at the microscopic scale. In this solar cell, the silicon material that makes up the cell is not highly structured or crystallized. Amorphous solar cells are usually created by applying doped silicon material to the back of a plate of glass. The cells usually appear dark brown on the sun-facing side and silvery on the conductive side. When produced as a solar panel it will appear to have several thin parallel lines running across its surface. The solar panels usually come without any obvious hook-up points or wires. They also have relatively high output impedance.

Anaerobic Digesters are devices that promote the decomposition of manure or digestion of the organics in manure to simple organics and gaseous biogas products. It is an industrial system that harnesses the natural process to treat waste & produce biogas that can be used to power electricity generators, provide heat and produce soil improving material. They are also fed with specially grown energy crops to boost biodegradable content and hence increase biogas production. The main products of anaeroic digesters are biogas and innocuous digested sludge solids. There are three primary types of anaerobic digesters like covered anaerobic lagoon, complete mix as well as plug flow type that are used for livestock farms. The purpose of this digester is to biologically destroy a significant portion of the volatile solids in sludge and to minimize the putrescibility of sludge.

Anaerobic Treatment is a process in which, producers are allowed to produce electricity and heat using manure from the farm. Manure is warmed and mixed in a tank that is free of oxygen or anaerobic. In these warm conditions, the bacterium's become active. They will begin to digest carbon present in the manure. The goal of this anaerobic digestion is to produce methane, a combustible greenhouse gas. A mix of 10 percent diesel and 90 percent methane can be used to run diesel engines. Moreover this digestion process reduces the odor of this manure. However the phosphorus and nitrogen content in raw as well as digested manure is same. Hence separation units can be integrated to capture phosphorus and nitrogen.
