Coil coating is a special application method in which the coiled metal strips are unwound and then passed through pretreating, coating and drying equipment before being finally wound. This refers to the continuous coating of metal coils, usually with liquid coating materials. This allows very efficient coating of large surface areas in a short time; the coated surfaces have a very high quality. The important substrates of the coatings are steel, galvanized steel and aluminum. The growth of the surface area accounted for aluminum coil is higher than that of steel. The materials used for this are cold-rolled coils made of soft grades of steel or general purpose structural steel, electrolitically galvanized thin sheet and hot dip galvanized coil or aluminum with its forgeable alloys. The maximum coil widths are about 1,800 mm for steel coils and 2000 mm for aluminum coils.
